Contact Your MP to Ban CO2 Gas Chambers for Pigs

More than nine million pigs in the UK are killed in CO₂ gas chambers every year.
It can take up to two terrifying minutes for them to lose consciousness – two minutes in which they scream, panic and fight for breath.
As the CO₂ enters their bodies, it forms carbonic acid in their eyes, throats and noses, causing an intensely painful burning sensation. It is a brutal death for animals who feel fear, pain and distress just as any dog would.
Pigs are intelligent, curious and affectionate. They form bonds, play, learn and seek comfort. Like all animals, they value their lives and want to live free from fear and suffering.
The UK Government has pledged to phase out the CO₂ gassing of pigs – but there is still no clear timeline, no implementation plan and no guarantee that it will ever happen.
We need to turn that promise into law. And we need your help to make it happen.
Let’s be clear: there is no humane way to slaughter a terrified animal who does not want to die. But this pledge is a real opportunity to end one of the most horrific practices in British farming – and to show the meat industry that public pressure is stronger than their lobbying. And crucially, to help tackle the damage wrought by industrial farming and slaughter.
