Ovarian cancer
Ovarian cancer occurs most in wealthy countries, where the diet is dominated by meat and dairy foods. There is some evidence that cholesterol and eggs may increase the risk too.
On the other hand, a high intake of vegetables (particularly cruciferous vegetables: cauliflower, cabbage, bok choy, broccoli and Brussels sprouts) is linked to a much lower risk of this type of cancer.
In women who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, a high intake of fruit and vegetables may help improve their chance of survival – and the same applies to wholegrains. On the other hand, higher intakes of red meat, processed meat products and dairy are linked to a significantly lower chance of survival.
