Vegan Now
We are in the midst of an environmental emergency. Our forests are burning, our air is being polluted, our oceans are being poisoned, our soil degraded, and our wildlife wiped out. Never before in human history have we seen ecological devastation on this scale.
Animal farming is at the heart of the climate crisis – reaching far beyond just the species we consume. It is contributing to the world’s sixth mass extinction and hurtling us towards a catastrophic temperature rise of up to 5°C by the end of this century.
Time is running out. Runaway global heating and habitat destruction have become THE most profound challenges of our age but we still have time to ACT, and that’s exactly what we did with the launch of Vegan Now!
At the Vegan Now! launch press conference in Brighton, we triggered international debate when Viva! patron, Michael Mansfield QC, stated meat could need to be banned to save the planet. His comments were covered by every UK national newspaper and over 100 other papers, including major columns in the USA and Russia. We then took the message to people all around the country on our burger tour.
Viva! La Burger Tour
Following the lunch of Vegan Now! we took free vegan burgers around the country to spread the message that going vegan now is the single biggest way to protect the planet. There’s no better way to speak to the public about going vegan than over a delicious cruelty-free burger!
La Burger Tour first went to Brighton, Worthing, Salisbury, Reading and Bath, then during the first week of COP26, we organised street actions in Glasgow before touring York, Leeds and Liverpool with more burgers!
Why is animal agriculture so harmful to the planet?
Animal farming is at the heart of the climate crisis. Farming animals for meat, dairy and eggs is a leading cause of wildlife loss, deforestation, greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, food waste… the list goes on.
Animal agriculture is rooted in almost every single issue within the climate crisis. In the oceans, overfishing is wiping out aquatic wildlife and fish farming is like a malignant cancer on our coasts. Find out more below:

It’s Time To Take Action
It can be easy to think of the climate emergency as something which doesn’t actually affect us – something that affects ice caps, polar bears and some animals, but not humans. However, that is just not true. The future of humankind depends on the health of the planet.
We’re already seeing the start of changes, from increased flooding, food insecurity and droughts, and our increased demand for animal agriculture is fuelling this crisis. There has never been a more important time to choose vegan for the sake of our planet.
Delve into the details and find out exactly how farming animals is affecting us and the world. Have a look at the peer-reviewed studies and facts about animal agriculture here.
