Cillian Murphy
Cillian Murphy is a highly-acclaimed Irish actor. He first became known to many for starring in the apocalyptic zombie horror film 28 Days Later in 2002, and for portraying Scarecrow, the villain in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins in 2005. He became a household name for his portrayal of Tommy Shelby in the BBC period drama Peaky Blinders. In 2023, Murphy reunited with Christopher Nolan to play the title role in Oppenheimer, a performance that would earn him an Academy Award.
Cillian originally went vegetarian a long time ago because he was worried about contracting mad cow disease (bovine spongiform encephalopathy or BSE). Although he has relapsed in the past, in 2022 he told The Guardian that he was vegetarian again, and in 2024 said he was “trying the vegan thing”, stating environmental reasons for his decision. And he’s absolutely right – shifting to a vegan diet is the single biggest thing you can do to reduce your impact on the planet.
