Coleen Nolan
Coleen Nolan is an English singer, television presenter and author. Coleen made a name for herself as a member of one of the world’s biggest selling girl groups, with her sisters, The Nolans. She made her first television appearance with her sisters in 1974, when she was nine, but didn’t become an official member of the group until she turned 15 years old.
In 2000, Coleen became a regular host of ITV’s Loose Women until she left the show in 2011. Since 2014, she has been a relief anchor of the show. She has also presented The Truth About… Eternal Youth and The Secret Guide To Women’s Health. She has also appeared in a number of reality television and game shows such as Celebrity Big Brother and Dancing on Ice. When she’s not appearing on our television screens, she’s writing an agony aunt column for the Daily Mirror. Her most recent book, ‘A Hand to Hold: all I’ve learnt about grief’, was a Sunday Times top 10 bestseller.
Coleen became vegan in 2020, during the first Coronavirus lockdown. Coleen adopted a plant-based diet for health reasons after watching the documentary What the Health, and has since educated herself on the horrors of animal agriculture. After just two weeks on a vegan diet, she no longer needed to take her painkillers and her health conditions were clearing up. She says, “it then became about the animals. All of a sudden that became a major factor.”
She told Plant Based News:
“I kind of built up this story that the animals are looked after, and it’s humane and we have to eat meat. Because that’s how I’ve grown up being told. It’s a total lie, and it’s not humane. Even when it’s humane, It’s not humane. It’s not.”
