Animal gassing is horrific, and the sad reality is that the vast majority of the 10.7 million pigs and 1.19 billion chickens slaughtered each year in the UK, will face this brutal end. This means that billions of innocent animals endure an unnecessary agony. Most commonly, carbon dioxide gas is used which forms an acid on their eyes, nostrils, mouths and lungs, burning them from the inside out.
