Life is Cheep
Every day in the UK 2.5 million chickens are cruelly slaughtered for meat – that’s 30 deaths every second – each one an individual, each one a life lost.
Viva! Animals launches dynamic campaigns to expose factory farming. Most animals spend their short lives in misery, imprisoned in squalor and exploited for human use. Their endless suffering is kept out of sight behind closed doors and so it falls to Viva! to expose the truth. We film and photograph the conditions on factory farms to show the public how animals really live and urge them to choose vegan. We take our undercover footage and run nationwide media campaigns, hitting the headlines with our shocking images. We take to the streets to show the British public where their food really comes from.

Harvey Nichols, Fortnum & Mason and downmarket Lidl are selling – or have recently sold – reindeer meat in many of their stores across the UK. The reindeer industry causes huge suffering both to reindeers and wild animals.
What could be more idyllic than the sight of dairy cows in a lush meadow? Truth is, it’s one huge deceit. There’s a cruel, much darker side to dairy which few see and even fewer know about.
British goats suffer as much as dairy cows: with their babies taken away from them almost immediately.
Although many see it as the ultimate in free-range farming, the seemingly idyllic scene of a ewe and her lambs out grazing the British countryside hides the stark reality of life for these gentle souls.
Badgers are needlessly being killed in a flawed attempt to protect a cruel and unnecessary dairy industry. Viva! has been fighting the badger cull since day one.
Did you know that at least 80 per cent of piglets are mutilated every year in Britain? How do we know? The pig industry admits it!
Our undercover investigators have been inside numerous dairy farms that supply Cadbury with milk. Here we expose the bloody secrets of one of the nation’s favourite confectionery brands.
At three Welsh markets we covertly filmed an appalling disregard for biosecurity – one of the many failings in modern animal husbandry that could be to blame for the spread of bovine TB.
Britain’s favourite wild bird has joined the ranks of the factory farmed animal machines. They have been forced out of the ponds and riversides and crammed in their thousands into dirty, stinking sheds – their every natural instinct frustrated.
