Our Team Viva! Heroes help us to change the world. Each one of them has achieved something extraordinary and donated their time and energy to Viva!’s ongoing fight to end animals’ suffering and create a kinder, vegan world.
These Team Viva! Heroes deserve our heartfelt thanks. Their past achievements are recorded here as inspiration to anyone who would like to become a Team Viva! hero too.
Paul Youd’s Ultra Challenges
At 87 years old, Paul has completed 27 ultra marathons and aims to reach 100 by his 100th birthday, alongside his goal of completing one million press-ups between the ages of 80 and 90!
IRONMAN Mike – Gorilla Defender
Mike Hill is co-founder of One Planet Pizza and frequently supports Viva!’s work. In August 2024, the 60-year-old pizza maker went a step beyond and tackled one of the toughest endurance events around – the IRONMAN triathlon in Denmark.
Alex Passmore’s Coast-to-Coast Ultra Marathon
Alex will be taking part in the SW Coast 2 Coast Ultra-Marathon, from Minehead to Dawlish on 24th and 25th July 2021.
Henry Read-Denness
14 year old Henry is attempting to walk 1,000 miles whilst also fasting 9 to 5 once a week to demonstrate the long period of time animals go without food and water.
James Gibson’s Coast-to-Coast Ultra Marathon
James Gibson will be taking part in the South West Coast-to-Coast ultra marathon on 23rd July to raise funds for Viva!

On 1 June 2017, Dave Lewis and Lizzie Riordan set off on an epic three month 750 mile walk across the UK to raise awareness of the plight of animals in factory farms and slaughter houses across the UK.
