Rebecca Lewis Runs the Toughest Race in Mallorca!

Rebecca Lewis is a passionate mountain and trail runner who has coached running technique for more than a decade. In 2023, she took on one of the most brutal endurance challenges in Europe – the Mallorca 5000. This 68 kilometre ‘sky race’ climbs a staggering 5,000 metres, testing even the most seasoned athletes. Having entered the race twice before and completed it once – a feat in itself – Rebecca returned determined not only to finish but to beat her previous time of 14 hours – and she did just that. More than a finishing medal, the race was about purpose, and through every punishing ascent and descent she raised a whopping !, turning endurance into advocacy and miles into meaningful change for animals.
Not long ago, severe asthma and allergies left her barely able to walk, let alone run, but she rebuilt her strength, began racing again at 53 and repeatedly placed first in her category.

Rebecca and her husband Scott rescued two abandoned lambs – an experience that not only opened their hearts but profoundly widened their understanding of animal agriculture. Although already plant-based, caring for the lambs and researching how to help them survive exposed the routine cruelties endured by farmed animals, strengthening Rebecca’s determination to be a voice for mothers and babies exploited for their bodies and reproductive systems and to raise awareness of the needless suffering they face.
Thank you for being a Viva! Hero, Rebecca!
