Christmas is a time of giving and this year the Bristol-based charity Viva! is providing people with the chance to give kindness to animals with a bumper festive festival.
Viva!, based in St Paul’s, is Europe’s largest vegan charity and this super seasonal homecoming event.
The Bristol event will also be the biggest Christmas fair the charity has ever held, with more than 70 stalls. Centre stage will be ethical and cruelty-free gifts for loved ones as well as a huge range of vegan foods and nutritional advice on how to stay healthy over the winter period.
Juliet Gellatley, founder and director of Viva!, said: “This year has been a remarkable one for vegan cooking and ethical products in Bristol. We’ve seen an unprecedented interest in veganism locally and a whole host of amazing events based around cruelty-free living.
“So I’m incredibly glad we’re having our big Christmas celebration in our hometown of Bristol as it also rounds up an amazing year for the Viva! Vegan Festival team, who have really worked their socks off to help bring tasty vegan treats to people across the UK.
“We hope as many people as possible can join us and raise a glass of cheer to having a healthier, happier and kinder Christmas in 2016 and beyond.”
One of the most popular parts of the Viva! festivals are the live cookery demos with additional talks and workshops offering free nutritional advice and highlighting the very best aspects of living without animal products [full listing of talks and demos can be found here www.viva.org.uk/festivals/bristol-2016].
The Bristol event follows the success of the 42 roadshows the group has held across the UK since October 2004, which have been attended by more than 90,000 people. A third of those attending the shows were meat eaters looking for help in cutting down their intake.
The Bristol Viva! Vegan Festival is sponsored by Hempish, Dean Farm Trust, Cocoafelize, BodyMe, Spotless Leopard, Viva La Vegan, Vegan Pizza Co., and Essential Trading among others.
Viva! is an established animal and environmental campaigning charity that carries out undercover investigations to expose animal abuse and has just celebrated its 20-year anniversary.
Viva!’s festivals have helped thousands of people go vegetarian and vegan, or cut down on their meat, and have been credited with saving millions of animals’ lives.
