Jane Fallon is an English novelist and former television producer whose work has made her a familiar name in modern commercial fiction. Before turning to books full time, she built a career in TV, working on popular British series including This Life, Teachers, 20 Things To Do Before You’re 30, and EastEnders.

Since publishing her debut novel Getting Rid of Matthew, Fallon has become known for sharp, funny, plot-driven stories about friendship, relationships, and revenge, often described as “chick noir”. Her bibliography now spans well over a dozen novels, including Got You Back, Foursome, The Ugly Sister, My Sweet Revenge, Faking Friends, and Queen Bee. Her books have also been regular fixtures in major book club selections, helping to cement her reputation as a consistent bestseller with a loyal readership.

Fallon is also known for living vegan. She has described moving from eating mostly vegan to going fully vegan, and she has spoken about the learning curve of making plant-based cooking feel genuinely satisfying, not restrictive. In interviews, she has linked the change to her long-standing affection for animals, and she has been part of public-facing campaigns encouraging people to try vegan living, including Veganuary.

“I went completely vegan in January. For two years of lockdown, we’ve been totally vegan at home… I used the time to really learn how to cook vegan food, because I think you have to take your time, you can’t do it overnight… I took the time to learn what to do with tofu and tempeh… and how to make egg replacements. I think it’s definitely a healthier way to live as you get older.”

“A pig named Esther changed my perception, but it was Veganuary who helped me make the leap. As a lifelong animal-lover, I feel more true to myself now I eat vegan.”
