Dotsie Bausch is a former American cyclist who won the silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics as the oldest cyclist in history to compete at the games. Dotsie didn’t start cycling until she was 26 years old as her therapist recommended finding a way to move her body in a healthy way. During her career, she has also taken home eight US national championships, two Pan American gold medals and a world record in the women’s three kilometre team pursuit in 2010. In 2015, Dotsie featured in the documentary Personal Gold: An Underdog Story about the American women’s cycling team’s medal bid at the London Olympics after the men’s team was banned. Dotise also featured in the 2018 Netflix documentary The Game Changers, about the benefits of a plant-based diet for athletes.

Why Dotsie Bausch is vegan

Dotsie Bausch is vegan for the animals.

Dotsie became vegan in 2009 after being shocked by undercover footage of factory farmed animals. She decided she would not be a part of that system and stopped eating meat immediately. At the time she didn’t know how her diet change would affect her athletic performance but as it turned out, her mind was blown by the “magical” positive changes she noticed.1mercyforanimals. 2019. In 2018, Dotsie Bausch founded Switch4Good, a non-profit formed to educate people about the dairy industry, with a focus on athletic performance and health.

“Dairy is not a health food. It is a marketing campaign and it is making people sick. The industry’s multimillion-dollar ad campaigns are often misleading, and it is time we stand up and say no more to the dairy industry.”2switch4good.org. 2018.
