Why Rosie Martin is vegan
Rosie Martin is vegan for health, the animals and the planet.
Rosie grew up surrounded by animals and it was her love of them that led her to a career in zoology, working at a zoo in Australia. However, she was struggling with weight, energy levels and the symptoms of coeliac disease, which she’d been diagnosed with as a nine-month-old baby. After a Youtube rabbit-hole led her to the idea of veganism, she decided to give it a try and within a year many of her ailments had vanished.1Martin, R. 2026. About. Rosemary Nutrition & Dietetics. Her discovery of veganism also made her aware of the impact of animal agriculture on the planet and she also started to question why we love some animals but eat others. She therefore abandoned her career as a zoologist and pivoted to a postgraduate degree in Nutrition & Dietetics.
In 2026, Rosie collaborated with Viva! on the documentary What Do You Really Know About Dairy? to expose the cruelty, health myths and industry spin behind one of Britain’s most heavily promoted foods.
“Choosing a whole foods plant-based diet reduces your risk of many common and debilitating diseases including heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, obesity, gut conditions, many cancers, and it can even improve your mental health.”2Martin, R. 2026.
