Oli Sykes is the lead singer of British rock band Bring Me The Horizon and founder of a clothing company, Drop Dead Clothing.

The band formed in Sheffield in 2004 and released their debut album, Count Your Blessings in 2006. Although their second album was very successful, it was the third, There Is a Hell Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is a Heaven Let’s Keep It a Secret in 2010 that really cemented their place in rockdom. Bring Me the Horizon’s sixth album, Amo, reached number one in the UK Album Charts.

Why Oli Sykes is vegan

Oli Sykes is vegan for the animals and for health.

Sykes became a vegetarian when he was 16 after reading some animal rights flyers at a punk show. Once he was aware of the cruelty involved in farming animals, he quickly stopped eating meat.1Jones, R. 2022. Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes on His Vegan Journey and Staying Healthy While Touring. Oli Sykes was vegetarian for several years and then began transitioning to veganism around 2013 for health reasons – as a vegetarian he realised he had become too reliant on cheese sandwiches. He said it was due to “a mixture of realising the dairy industry isn’t good at all either, and also reading this book, called Skinny Bitch.”2Jones, R. 2022. In 2008, Oli Sykes became the face of an animal rights organisation and designed a t-shirt for them with the slogan ‘Meat Sucks’.3Kerrang. 2008. Oli Sykes joins animal rights campaign. His clothing label, Drop Dead, is vegan and sustainable, and in 2018 Oli opened a 100 per cent vegan bar called Church – Temple of Fun in Sheffield.

“When I saw how animals are tortured on factory farms, I couldn’t justify being a part of that cruelty.”4Kerrang. 2008. Oli Sykes joins animal rights campaign.
