Chronixx (Jamar McNaughton) is a Jamaican reggae star. He started making music when he was just five years old and by the age of 11 he was a choir director and had recorded his first song. He has now released two EPs, and in 2017 released the album Chronology, which received a Grammy nomination. In 2020, Chronixx released the first single from his follow-up album Dela Splash, but, with the exception of a 2022 single called Never Give Up and a 2023 appearance at London’s City Splash, he had been fairly quiet on the musical front. However, in 2025 Chronixx made a triumphant return to the stage by headlining Reggaeland at the Milton Keynes National Bowl and announced a new album would be coming soon.

Why Chronixx is vegan

Chronixx follows a Rastafarian ital diet. Rastafarians believe that eating natural, unprocessed plant-based food (ital) provides vitality and increases our connection to nature. Chronixx follows a vegan diet to be healthy, to connect with nature and create a better Earth:

“Our connection to nature is inevitable, but some of us acknowledge it and some of us don’t. And when you acknowledge your connection to nature, that is how you discover health and purpose in life. To be healthy is to create a better Earth. So when I take good care of myself as just one cell in the universe, it means I’m not doing it in a selfish way—I’m doing it to take care of my whole environment.”1Daly, A. 2017.
