Why Lou Sanders is vegan

Lou Sanders is vegan for the animals… and for the attention.

Lou has been vegan for many years now and often mentions it in a tongue-in-cheek fashion but doesn’t seem to like to discuss it in detail. She jokingly told BBC Radio 6 that she usually introduces herself by saying: “Hi, I’m Lou Sanders and I’m a vegan,”1Keaveny, S. 2026. Hi, I’m Lou Sanders and I’m a Vegan. BBC Sounds. She told The Guardian that one of her favourite meals is a Sunday roast: “I love a roast. A friend invited a few of us round for Sunday lunch the other week. I got there, and she’d just made a normal meal. Lunch-on-a-Sunday is not Sunday lunch. I was livid. Feed me vegan Yorkshire puddings and I’ll squeal in delight like a piggy.”4Segalov, M. 2024. At her stand-up show No Kissing in the Bingo Hall in 2025, she said: “I’m a vegan… I was at dinner with my five-year-old niece so thought I’d tell her the truth about where meat comes from. You know, just inform her. So I told her that the meat she’d ordered came from a pig who was, you know, kept in bad ways and slaughtered screaming… Her reaction really surprised me ’cause she’s really bright. She threw her head back and laughed like a psychopath.”
