Kip Andersen is an American filmmaker best-known for co-writing, producing and directing some of the most influential vegan documentaries of the last two decades. His credits include Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret and What the Health, with Keegan Kuhn, and producing Seaspiracy. In 2024, he released Christspiracy with Kameron Waters, a film about “the moral dimension of humanity’s interaction with nonhuman animals and the industries that profit from their exploitation, as informed by world religions.”

Why Kip Andersen is vegan

Kip Andersen is vegan for the animals and the planet.

Andersen’s “environmental awakening” was triggered after watching the 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth about Al Gore’s environmental campaign. This led him to adopting a more sustainable lifestyle. According to Cowspiracy.com, “Andersen believed he was doing everything he could to help the planet by following the guidelines of national and international environmental organisations, but his life took a different direction when he found out animal agriculture is the leading cause of environmental destruction.”1cowspiracy.com. 2014. He is also the founder of AUM Films and Media, a non-profit “focused on creating films and media that promote thrivability, compassion, and harmony for all life.”

“I had to come to the full conclusion the only way to sustainably and ethically live on this planet with seven billion other people is to live an entirely plant-based vegan diet. I decided instead of eating others, to eat for others.”
