Why Daisy Ridley is vegan
Daisy Ridley is vegan for the animals and for health.
Daisy started her vegan journey after watching fellow vegan Simon Amstell’s mockumentary, Carnage, in 2017. The brilliant film is set in a vegan future and explores the guilt felt by society’s meat-eating past.
Although she initially cut out all animal products except fish1Bownass, H. 2017. Daisy Ridley on finding fame, Star Wars and her love for washing powder. Stylist. According to Vegan Food and Living, “during an interview about The Last Jedi, she praised the vegan options while balancing filming and promoting the film. Moreover, during 2021’s Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer, Daisy cooked with 100 per cent vegan ingredients. She created vegan banoffee-inspired millionaire’s shortbread, a chocolate and raspberry tart and a rather unconventional toilet-shaped cake.”2Smith, R. 2024. “I don’t eat dairy, meat or eggs, but this only happened a few months ago as I watched Carnage… And I was horrified… I didn’t know how dairy farming was done or what they did to male chicks.”4Bownass, H. 2017.
