Her current public billboard project, ‘Got Drought?’ has been touring the U.S. since 2015 with billboards going to Cape Town, South Africa in 2018. She is also noted for her controversial ‘Trumpocalypse’ billboard in downtown Phoenix (2017) which gained international media attention.

Why I am vegan

I have been vegetarian my whole life, but I became vegan in 2011 while researching for Evolution Revolution: The Interconnectedness of All Beings, an art exhibition of prominent artists, including Sue Coe, William Wegman, and Gee Vaucher. As part of the exhibition, we held an animal liberation forum that included many leading activists and thinkers. While doing research for the discussion, I learned a lot about animal rights. Even though I had been an animal activist my whole life, there was a lot of information of which I was unaware. I could not live with only being vegetarian after being educated, for instance, about the horrible abuses in the dairy and egg industries.

Why I support Viva’s Art for Animals project

I support Viva! because their mission is to educate the public about the suffering of animals and how unnecessary it is to eat animals. Becoming vegan is a transition, and Viva! helps people through this transition. As the founder of my own “Got Drought?” campaign, which educates the public with billboards, I understand the need for vegans and vegan organizations to come together and support each other. Being a printmaker, I can make multiples of my work. I donate a lot of these prints to charitable causes, like Viva!, because we can all contribute in some small way to end animal suffering and Climate Change. Together, we can change the world for the better.
