Vegan Kristen Santos-Griswold ends the 2024/25 season as world champ

Three podium finishes for American Kristen Santos-Griswold in Milan, Italy, cemented her place at the top spot of the Women’s Short Track Speedskating World tour and earned her the Crystal Globe.

In Milan, the speedy vegan won the women’s 500 metres and 1000 metres while finishing second in the 1500 metres, giving her enough points to take home the Crystal Globe.

The Crystal Globe takes into account placings in all World Tour races from 500 to 1500 metres across the season. Kristen was the only woman to score more than 240 points at a single World Tour event, with 260 in Korea and 280 in Italy. She was awarded a total of 1120 points, winning by 170. Over the course of the 2024/25 season she earned four golds, four silvers, and one bronze medal.

Kristen adds the success to her gold medal at the World Championships and the World Cup. and becomes one of only two US short track skaters to win gold at all three individual distances in the history of the World Cup.

The 2022 Olympian was “over the moon” with her accomplishment.
