Vegan runner finishes in top 10 at Badwater

Harvey Lewis surprises himself with a top 10 finish at Badwater
The unstoppable vegan ultrarunner is at it again! Harvey Lewis, the teacher from Cincinnati with a penchant for punishing races, finished in seventh place at the notorious Badwater Ultramarathon, known as the ‘World’s Toughest Footrace’. Harvey crossed the finish line after running 250 miles in 26 hours and 17 minutes.
The Badwater Ultramarathon subjects its participants to blistering heat as they traverse the Californian desert called Death Valley, the hottest place in the world, and includes 4450 metres of height gain.
Finishing the race at all is an epic feat of endurance but to finish in the top 10 of 93 finishers is nothing short of incredible. What’s more, Harvey did this just two weeks after running nearly 400 miles at the Dead Cow Gully race.
After crossing the line at Badwater, an exhausted Harvey said:
“The crazy thing was running 384 miles at Dead Cow Gully two weeks before Badwater. To be honest I really didn’t know if it was possible to have a top 10 finish.”
But when Harvey Lewis laces up a pair of running shoes, anything is possible.
