Plant-based Australian snooker pro, Neil Robertson, has won the English Open title for the second time after defeating China’s Wu Yize in a thrilling final.

Robertson, the former World Champion, stormed to a 7-1 lead at the interval. However, Wu used the break to shift the momentum of the match, winning the next seven frames to close in and apply the pressure to Robertson at 8-7. But Robertson, no stranger to high-pressure situations, was able to keep his cool to close the match out and take the championship nine frames to seven.

During the entire 128-player tournament, Robertson had only dropped four frames, until he met Wu in the final.

Robertson became vegan in 2014. He told Great Vegan Athletes:

“I felt I needed to eat healthier to give myself the chance to get the most out of my career. I was pretty interested in the vegan diet for months before I decided to give it a try through speaking to Peter Ebdon who has been vegan for about 3 years now.”
