Tony Wardle, Associate Director & Editor of Viva!life

Tony has been with Viva! since its launch as our associate director, and as a former national magazine journalist and TV documentary maker, his nickname “Words Wardle” is apt.  Tony has produced innumerable popular videos for Viva!, and directed the award-winning documentary Hogwood: a modern horror story, on Netflix and Prime. His time is consumed mostly with words: he is editor and writer for our well-loved and appreciated quarterly supporters’ magazine, Viva!life. Tony also edits a large output of written material as well as conceiving and writing much of it. He is a creative tour de force, helping the campaigns team with slogans, snappy writing and ideas for video shorts, writing scripts and directing visual content. 

Tony witnessed what life was really like on modern dairy farms when he lived surrounded by them. The catalyst for his veganism was when a cow gave birth in the field outside his house and he watched as she followed with great anxiety her little bull calf as he was carried away to the farmyard – to be shot.
