Skinny Bitch
Skinny Bitch
Rory Freedman & Kim Barnouin, paperback, £7.99
Yes, the title is controversial. Some would call the subject matter itself controversial, as well, as this is a scathing attack on the meat and dairy industries. It is also a genuinely well-conceived and sensible weight loss book. Look beyond the brazen marketing tactics and you’ll find indictments of the US food safety legislation and its entanglements with chemical companies. It’s guaranteed that you will learn something when you read this. There is some salty language, but the book is full of humour and, ultimately, good advice!

From breakfasts to desserts and everything you might desire between those times, you'll never want for healthy nosh.
Skinny Bastard
Skinny Bastard
Rory Freedman & Kim Barnouin, £7.99
The famous 'Skinny Bitch' duo returns, but this time with a masculine twist to their no-nonsense approach to living a cruelty-free and healthy lifestyle.
Freedman and Barnouin attack everything from dairy to meat to protein to carbs and in the process expose some popular nutritional myths (Have you ever, in your entire life, heard of someone in a developed country suffering from a protein deficiency?). Skinny Bastard can be brutally honest about what it takes to get fit, seeing animals as friends and not food and learning to love your veggies! But its comical dialogue with the reader is sure to win over even the most skeptical of dieters and set you straight on the path to looking good (and most imporantly feeling good)
So if you want to 'stop being fat' and 'start getting buff' this book is a pretty good start.

Alicia Silverstone, hardback, £19.99
A vivaciously brave attempt to get rid of the 'nasty' in our modern diets and focus on the 'kind'. Thoroughly inspiring and well-researched, The Kind Diet is a very personal, no-nonsense approach to losing weight (and saving the planet). And judging by the range of recipes fromChocolate Peanut Butter Cups to Black-Eyed Pea Croquettes with Dijon Glaze the journey couldn't be tastier. There is a special emphasis on macrobiotic eating and excellent meal plans. FCP
