Photos are from a previous Viva! investigation into a farm connected with Midland Pig Producers - who are behind this development.

Object online with Viva!’s template

Thank you to everyone who helped fight this development the first time round. We won round one, but now the people behind what would be Britain’s largest ever pig farm (which will hold around 26,000 pigs) have resubmitted plans – this time to the county council. That’s why we need your help to fight this – again!

Although it would be wrong to think we don’t already have intensive farming of animals in the UK, the plans at Foston would be a lurch even further towards American style mega-farming and all that entails. As we have seen in the US, animals and local people often come a very distant second to the pursuit of profit. We should be getting rid of factory farming, not embracing it – and people power is the key to stopping such developments.

It only takes a minute to object using our template. Please object even if you did so before, as these are new plans. Every objection counts!

A huge thank you to the hundreds of people that pledged their support for our recent Easter Day of Action for chicks. Another great success thanks to you!

Watch Day of Action footage on YouTube.com of us out on the streets of Bristol.

Easter may be over, but there’s still plenty you can do! Please get involved – the hens are counting on you.

Exciting news! After a brief hiatus (we all need to recharge our batteries sometimes!) we are absolutely delighted to announce the next three in our series of Incredible Veggie Roadshows.

We have some cracking, centrally located venues and we’d love for you to get involved and join us.

The shows are as follows:

Truro Hall for Cornwall – Saturday, July 30 2011
Liverpool Town Hall – Saturday, November 26 2011
Cambridge Guildhall – Saturday, February 4 2012

As usual, the events are free to all; attracting veggies, vegans and the veggie curious.

For these events we have chosen towns and cities that the Roadshow has not visited yet – but that we know have vibrant veggie scenes. Almost 57,000 people have attended our Roadshows in the last six years.

If you think you might be able to help and volunteer at one of our Roadshows we’d love to hear from you! Email Claire@viva.org.uk with your details. Materials to promote the shows will be available from mid June.
