Get your creative juices flowing for national veggie cookery competition
BUDDING veggie chefs are being invited to get cooking as part of a national competition organised by Europe's largest vegetarian campaigning organisation, Viva! and health charity, the Vegetarian & Vegan Foundation (VVF).
As part of Viva!'s Fruity Fundays campaign encouraging people to reduce the amount of meat they eat any day of the week ? the challenge is to create a delicious three-course vegan meal that uses the five-a-day recommended portions of fruit and vegetables, which can be spread across the three courses.
Viva! and VVF founder & director, Juliet Gellatley says: "We are looking for something tasty, inventive but not too over-complicated. If you love cooking veggie, have any delicious recipes up your sleeve which you'd like to share, then we'd love to hear from you!"
Britain's foremost vegetarian cookery writer Rose Elliot MBE will be judging the competition and Viva! patron and Dancing on Ice star Heather Mills will cook the winning meal for the winner and a friend to enjoy at her Brighton restaurant V-Bites.
Heather says: "This competition is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to push their veggie culinary skills that little bit further in aid of a fabulous cause. I'm looking forward to welcoming the winner to VBites in September and cooking up their menu!"
The winner will be announced at Viva!'s Incredible Veggie Roadshow in Brighton on September 18, 2010 and Heather will cook their meal at V-Bites that evening.
Photos of the winner and their winning meal will be featured in Viva!life and Cook Vegetarian magazine, the UK's only monthly vegetarian cookery magazine.
Recipes must be vegan, your own creation and should include a starter, a main course and a dessert. Your recipes must include at least five portions of fruit and veg which can be spread across the three courses as you wish. The deadline for entries is Monday, August 2, 2010. The winner must be available on the evening of Saturday, September 18, after Viva!'s Incredible Veggie Roadshow in Brighton (we will contact the winner in advance).
Send your entries to: Fruity Fundays Cookery Competition, Viva!, 8 York Court, Wilder Street, Bristol BS2 8QH or email firstname.lastname@example.org with Fruity Fundays Cookery Competition as the subject line.
