Headline names in health and the environment come together in London for massive veggie show
THOUSANDS of people are expected to attend Europe?s largest vegetarian event this weekend in London, including some headline names in health and the environment.
Top scientist and best-selling author Professor Jane Plant will be hosting talks on Saturday (April 18) at Viva!?s Incredible Veggie Show on how to cut your risk of breast cancer or prostate cancer and preventing and treating osteoporosis.
Viva! patron Heather Mills will be speaking about getting healthy with a vegan diet and Juliet Gellatley, founder of Viva! and the Vegetarian & Vegan Foundation addresses why you don?t need dairy.
The damage palm oil is causing animals, people and the environment will be brought to the platform at The Royal Horticultural Halls by Andrew Butler, campaigns manager of Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics.
Viva! associate director, Tony Wardle, will be talking about how a vegan diet is essential to stopping global warming; Claire Bass, manager of the Global Marine Mammal Programmes for the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) will bring an insight into the differing treatment of whales and dolphins around the world.
Other highlights include cookery demonstrations by vegetarian cookery favourite Rose Elliot and an appearance by Dr Will Tuttle, award-winning writer and educator and author of The World Peace Diet, based in California.
The Incredible Veggie Show will be hosted by vegetarian campaigning group Viva!, on Saturday, April 18, at The Royal Horticultural Halls, Lawrence Hall & Conference Centre, Greycoat Street, from 10am ? 6pm.
It includes a full programme of talks and cookery demonstrations; a huge variety of free food tastings; over 100 stalls; free samples; clothing and footwear; food and drink; beauty and bodycare products; health advice; recipes and books; campaign news; vegan caf? and a toddlers? play area.
Admission is ?4, under 18s free.
