Did you know that various bits of dead animal often find their way into wine? All kinds of wine! Ground up fish swim bladders, egg white from caged battery birds, milk protein and gelatine - obtained by boiling pig, cow and horse bones - are used to remove proteins, yeasts and other bits that can make a wine murky. Even blood is occasionally used in some red wines for added colour. And beer is much the same.
