New Vegan, Co-operative Business needs Investors!

Rice Up Wholefoods Limited is a new workers' co-operative based in Southampton. We have found suitable premises in the centre of the city which we hope to start trading from soon. We will be an ethical wholefood grocery selling a wide range of food, toiletries and household products, including lots of organic and fairtrade goods, and local produce where possible. All toiletries and houshold products will be environmentally friendly and free from animal testing, and we aim to make everything as affordable as possible.

We have done a lot of research and planning and have so far secured most of the funds we need to open. However we need to raise further funds, and are therefore looking for people to invest in our business and help us give Rice Up the final push we need to get off the ground!

Vegetarian/Vegan group members wanted

A vegetarian & vegan group, in the very early days of getting together, is looking for more members. We are hoping next year to start looking for property & land for a Community/Co-Housing venture. We shall be in the countryside, and expect to be approx. 30 mins. drive from the town of Yeovil in Somerset. All enquiries very welcome, even if "out of interest" only, as it all helps to spread the word.

Voluntary vegan chef: South Africa

At the Vervet Monkey Foundation, South Africa, we are looking for a voluntary chef to cook vegan food for between 20-40 volunteers 5 days a week. Along with conservation, we promote veganism to support environmental issues and habitat loss etc.

We are able to provide vegan meals, basic cabin accommodation and also opportunities to be involved with vegan outreach locally and help with the monkeys at our sanctuary.

Veggie Play Project

"Beef" (working title) is the new Veggie Play Project being written by Jonathan Brown (Best Male Performer nominee, Brighton Fringe 2007, and vegan). Jonathan is seeking support for this play (an intimate, humorous, moving insight into the meat industry) from local arts organisations and anyone whose work or personal aims include reducing animal exploitation.
